Dentures
An alternative to dental implants are dentures. Dentures are replacements for natural teeth but the difference is that they can be removed. They do take some time to get used to and don’t feel as natural as your own teeth but today’s dentures have come a long way and are more natural looking and comfortable than they ever have been before.
Types of Dentures
Full Dentures
This is a flesh colored base that fits over your gums. The upper denture covers the roof of your mouth while the lower denture fits around your tongue in the shape of a horseshoe.
Immediate Dentures
An immediate denture is placed immediately after a tooth is extracted. The benefit is never going without teeth but they do have to be adjusted a few months after initial placement.
Partial Denture
A partial denture sits on a metal framework that is attached to your other natural teeth and provides an anchor for the denture. This is a removable alternative to bridges.
Dr. Vette will consult with you on the denture options and help you decide which of the three is the best choice for you.
